Running a Marathon
Well.. I’m way out of my comfort zone here and decided to run a marathon. With zero to little experience in running I needed some help! In the first episode of "Running a Marathon" I have a sit down Zoom session with Mike Lori to help me plan this thing out! Mike is a professional Triathlete, representing Canada.
I'm joined by one of the best Sports Physiotherapists in Australia, Justin Barich. He has treated professional Rugby League and Union teams, Formula 1 drivers and the New York Jets (NFL). He has himself competed in the New York, Sydney and Boston Marathons. We talk about training loads, nutrition and injury prevention.. even how to tie my shoes properly!!
In the third episode of "Running A Marathon", I'm lucky enough to have return guest, Dr. Ian Dunican join me. Dr. Dunican has a PhD in sleep science and has run close to 20 ultra marathons and a dozen marathons. We talk about preparation and training loads, nutrition, supplementation and maximizing performance with good quality sleep!
In the final episode of the Running A Marathon mini-series, I talk with professional Triathlete, Mike Lori. They discuss his results as well as the easy and difficult aspects of training for endurance events.
I’ve included the GPS of all of my runs leading up to the big day. I used a Garmin Instinct and chest band for heart rate monitoring.
